Press Release
September 10 - September 25, 2016
Opening Reception: September 10, 3-5PM
Key Projects is pleased to present Close Proximity, a two-person exhibition featuring work by Brooke Nixon and Nancy White. The exhibition will include new acrylic paintings on wood panels and paper and will be on view from September 10 - September 25, 2016, with an opening reception on Saturday, September 10th from 3 - 5 pm.
According to Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary of English Usage “there are degrees of proximity, and close proximity simply emphasizes the closeness.” Brooke Nixon’s and Nancy White’s closeness lies in the use of geometry, in the tight organization of space and in interlocking planes of color - in structure. Where that closeness deviates is in their use of color.
Nixon’s color is intense with vibrant hues capturing the ever changing seasonal temper of her natural environment. White’s color is muted and close in value inviting us into a flat space, which immediately folds into unexpected depths.
