Key Projects is pleased to present Part to Whole: Work by Li Trincere and Ken Weathersby curated by Karen Schifano. The exhibition will be on view from November 7 - November 22, 2015, with an opening reception on Saturday, November 7th from 2 - 4 pm.
Li Trincere's charismatic shaped paintings and Ken Weathersby's deconstructed painting objects at first seem to have little in common. Both, however, build work with parts that create wholes, and both are equally articulate in allowing these wholes to devolve back again into their constituent elements. Strong color and seductive surfaces in Trincere's work play against the astringent intelligence of Weathersby's white or neutral grids and collages, making us aware, not only of the provocative edginess of each artist's issues, but of our own assumptions and perceptions as viewers looking for solid ground.
